Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day

To mark world Safer Internet Day 2019, 5W looked at the story of “Goldilocks - A Hashtag Caurtionary Tale”. This was a reimagined version of the Goldilocks story, specifically focusing on how we can keep ourselves safe online. Goldilocks, in her ongoing search for more followers on Instagram, foolishly photographs herself breaking into the home of the three bears. She goes on to take selfies whilst breaking baby bear’s chair, eating their porridge and falling asleep in their beds. Eventually Goldilocks does get her comeuppance- Daddy bear sees her posts online and gets the police involved.

We discussed appropriate use of social media, how things we say and do online can be around for many years - long after we post them and how we are responsible for everything we put out on the internet. We came up with 5 golden rules to keep ourselves safe and then created our own cautionary comic strips on the theme of internet safety.

Welcome to Mount Carmel RC Primary; a place where we proclaim Christ’s message of hope and celebrate the uniqueness of each child.
