Celebrating our Faith
Our faith life is very important at Mount Carmel. We celebrate our faith in many different ways. Look at some of our special events that have taken place during our school year.
Celebrating Our Lady's Feast Day- September 2019
We started the new school year with a celebration of Our Lady's feast day. We gathered together as a school at Mount Carmel Church to pray to Our Lady, sing songs and decorate her statue. When we went back to school, the celebrations continued with a slice of birthday cake!
A goodbye Mass for Father Brady - October 2019
We gathered together to celebrate Mass as a school community and say goodbye to our wonderful Father Brady. Good Luck Father Brady in your new Parish.
Welcome Assembly - October 2019
We has a special assembly to welcome all of our new children and parents into our Mount Carmel family. The children sang a prayer asking God to Bless them.
Harvest Festival October 2019
We gathered as a school community to celebrate Harvest and think about our virtues- 'Grateful and Generous.' We read prayers and sang songs in church. We collected food items for the Lalley centre. The donations made a positive difference to the lives of families in Manchester.
Rememberance- November 2019
EYFS and KS1 gathered to pray and pay our respects for those who gave their lives in both World War 1 and 2. In the Juniors the Chaplaincy Team prepared a liturgy for the KS2 children in church.
Advent Assembly- December 2019
We started Advent with a special assembly. Year 2 led this assembly beautifully. We welcomed newly baptised babies and thought about how Jesus is coming and how we can prepare our hearts for his birth.
Nativity- December 2019
We celebrated the birth of Jesus with two nativity performances to a packed audience of friends, family and parishioners. Every child took part as either a narrator, actor or musician.
Christmas Carol Concert- Faithfilled and Hopeful Liturgy- December 2019
We came together as school community for our Advent Carol Service. During the service, our children led us in prayer focussing on how we can be faithfilled and hopeful as we prepare for the coming of Jesus. The singing was magnificent.
Year of the Word- The God Who Speaks - January 2020
In January we launched the 'Year of the Word' - The God Who Speaks. This special year aims to reconnect us all with God's word, and brings the scripture to life in our daily lives. As a school, we are looking forward to continuing to celebrate, live and share God's word throughout the coming years.
Ash Wednesday - 26th February
We started Lent with a beautiful collective worship. We thought about ways we can act, give and pray in Lent. Father Anthony gave us our ashes.
