Y5C Travelling along the Underground Railroad

Lesson: English

Class: Year 5W Year: 2020 - 2021

As part of our 'Moving People' topic, we have been studying the impact of slavery and enforced movement. We have used a range of texts and sources, including an account by Harriet Tubman detailing her escape from slavery along the Underground Railroad.  Supporting stories about Henry "Box" Brown and the use of coded quilts have helped us to empathise with people searching for freedom.
