Autumn 1- Computing
Date: 30th Oct 2022 @ 10:35am
In computing, we have been exploring how IT benefits us at home, school and in society. We have sorted computing items in different ways such as which items can be used inside/outside, which equipment can be used in school, shops and thinking about how we can use these devices safely. We looked at shops as part of this topic and thought about how barcodes work. We decided to act out how a barcode scanner works! We worked as a three: one customer, one barcode scanner and a till. We took turns to be the customer choosing the items, the barcode finder and scanner to match up the barcode to the correct item with the price and the till who was responsible for adding the items up. This allowed us to use our maths and team building skills too! Without a customer, there could be nothing scanned, without the scanner we didn't know what the item or 5e price was and without the till we wouldn't know our total!
Well done Y2- you were brilliant doing this! We have certainly learned that everyday tills work hard and fast too! They certainly benefit society!
