Reception C (Rabbit Class) 2024 - 2025

Mrs Coogan

Welcome to Reception C - Rabbit Class

In the EYFS we challenge children to become independent learners and critcial thinkers through our continuous provision and targeted learning challenges. We are very excited to share all the amazing things we do in school with you. Please check out our page for regular updates and photos.

Welcome to Reception C where a love of learning is at the heart of everything we do! The teacher in our classroom is Mrs Coogan.

We have the support of some fantastic teaching assistants Mrs Ford and Miss Hibbert.

Our class saint is St. Joseph, he was the husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus. St Joseph was a carpenter or woodworker. The Gospel of Matthew calls him a “righteous man,” meaning he was an observant Jew who obeyed God's law. On St Joseph's feast day the children in Reception will dress up as people who help us in our community.

Dedicated story time

In Reception we encourage a love of reading. Each day we have dedicated story time where we read one of our favourite five texts selected for the half term.

Lending Library

Each week your child will be able to choose a book from our lending library that they can share with you at home.

Reading Books

You will be able to access a book on your child's Collins Ebook account. This book will also be shared in your child's guided reading session twice a week developing their fluency and comprehension. Your child will also be sent an additional book matched at their phonic ability that they can read at home with you.

Rabbit of the Week

Each Friday a child is chosen to take our class rabbit home for the weekend. We encourage parents to take photos of what your child and rabbit have been doing over the weekend and add them to rabbit's adventure book. They are then shared with the class during Monday morning snack and chat time.
