Celebrating Shrove Tuesday
Date: 5th Mar 2025 @ 9:30pm
On Tuesday 4th March, children in Reception Rabbits learnt about Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday. Children learnt how pancakes are made with flour, milk and eggs and that pancakes were traditionally made to use the leftovers before the season of Lent where people fasted for forty days just like Jesus did in the desert. We all enjoyed pancakes with icing sugar and lemon and we talked about our favourite toppings: honey, jam, icing sugar, lemon and syrup. The pancakes were delicious and many children were looking forward to eating pancakes at home. We also reflected about the start of Lent and what we would promise to give up or what we could do that was extra like: help tidy up at home, be kind to our brothers and sisters, help lay the table, share with our friends.
