Make Your Mark Vote - School Council
Date: 10th Mar 2024 @ 4:35pm
Over the last couple of weeks, the School Council have been organising a polling station in for school as part of the Make Your Mark campaign. This campaign, which is organised by UK Youth Parliament, aims to empower all children by giving them a say in the things that are important to them. The school council therefore organised an afternoon where all pupils in KS2 had the chance to vote on which topic is most important to them. The results from this have then been sent off to be collated as part of a national vote which will then inform future work of the Youth Parliament. This was a great opportunity for the School Council to get to grips with how polling stations and ballots work and gave the KS2 children a flavour of what voting at a polling station is like. The children created posters, stood in front of classes to read out instructions, organised a register and set up the library for this event. It was a huge success and something we hope to build on in the future.
