National Festival of Fieldwork
Date: 9th Sep 2024 @ 6:10pm
During June and July our children took part in the National Festival of Fieldwork. They developed their fieldwork skills by observing, collecting and analysing data and investigating different parts of our local area.
In EYFS, the children took photographs and drew the features they could see from the classroom windows.
Year 1 explored the local area looking for different features. They created their own sketch mapswhen they returned to school.
Year 2 explored habitats in our school grounds.
Year 3 also explored the local area, looking at colour in the environment. They collected data about the different colours and then drew a graph and analysed their data.
Year 4 visited Bolton Abbey to look at the River Wharfe which runs by it. They looked at the features of the river and the land surrounding it, and how this looked on a map, as well as up close in real life. They drew our own maps and added a key to show all the features they had seen.
Year 5 went to Boggart Hole Clough where they collected data and analysed the local playground. When they returned to school, they designed their own playgrounds.
Everyone has had a great time and learned some new fieldwork skills.
