No Pens Day Wednesday
Date: 25th Nov 2021 @ 9:57am
Yesterday the whole school took part in No Pens Day Wednesday, a national campaign to raise the importance of speaking, listening and communication skills.
From the Nursery through to Year 6, everyone put down their pens and pencils and focused on communication.
The children loved it! They communicated in different ways all day. There was a real buzz of excitement in the air throughout the day and the staff worked hard to offer plenty of opportunities to develop language skills in many different ways.
We know that language is an area that we need to work hard on in school. If the children can't say it, they can't write it.
If they lack confidence to speak and communicate, they might struggle to make friends or share their worries.
By putting speaking and listening to the top of the agenda for a full day, we raised the profile of this important skill and it gives us a springboard to continue to keep it at the top of the agenda.
Please take every opportunity to develop your child's speaking and listening skills at home.
Working together, we will develop our children into confident communicators and prepare them for the next steps of their lives.
