Poetry, Rest and Play
Date: 22nd Mar 2025 @ 6:00pm
Reception enjoyed an amazing day learning about the rights that they have as children. They learnt that they have the right to rest and play and so they had lots of fun playing inside and outside. Inside, children played in the farm shop. They were architects and builders in the construction area and creators in the creative area where they made chicks out of paper plates. They painted, played with playdough, imagined another world in 'small world' and the dolls' house. Children also relaxed in the book area and shared stories with each other. Reception children were given the challenge to play in a different area that they do not normally choose. Everybody had lots of fun!
Outside, children enjoyed the warmth of the day by role playing in our new mud kitchen. They climbed and balanced on our new obstacle course; played in our new water area; ran around and played hide and seek in the playground. They enjoyed running races and playing in our role play school where we saw lots of future teachers! In addition, the children also learnt the poem Hen's Song by Rose Fyleman which they recited in assembly to Years 1 and 2. They were absolutely amazing! They had great eye contact with their audience, they projected their voices clearly and they complemented the poem with actions. We were so proud of them. At the end of their performance they were all smiling when they received a huge round of applause. What a fantastic day we had!
