Poetry Fortnight

Lesson: English

Class: Year 3R Year: 2020 - 2021

From the 8th March, as we welcomed everybody back to be reunited with our class friends, we celebrated what makes our wonderful school special and expressed our celebration through Poetry Week (...or rather, fortnight, as we decided to think about our playtimes and how much fun they are for our second week of poetry!)

We decided to pose the Big Question: What makes Mount Carmel simply the best?

The following week, we posed a new Big Question: What makes our playtimes the best/amazing/the most fun? (Children chose their own adjective as we posed the question.)

We then chose to write our poems in the style of questions, and explored some poetic features such as rhyme, alliteration, repetition, and stanzas.

Here are some of our children performing their poetry about the playground in the form of questions.

Can you make your own question poetry at home?

On Monday, the rest of the class will practise reciting their poems in the style of a rap!

Update:

22nd March - see some of our performances in the playground! Have a look through our gallery!

Welcome to Mount Carmel RC Primary; a place where we proclaim Christ’s message of hope and celebrate the uniqueness of each child.
