William Morris
Lesson: Art and design
Class: Year 6C Year: 2021 - 2022
Y6CC have been studying William Morris (1834-1896)
”Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
After looking at his calligraphy, we were able to create our own initial designs based on his floral drawings and flowing lines.
We also created wallpaper designs by combining our observational drawings of nature, with one aspect of a William Morris pattern. Our original designs were transferred several times to create a uniform pattern. To complete our designs, we used watercolour paints to blend colours. This enabled us to create the William Morris style bringing nature into the home.
